Menu Fieldnotes is an independent fan guide to menus, prices and food culture. It is not affiliated with, operated by or endorsed by McDonald’s. This policy describes what the site’s own code does today and which outside services your browser contacts while you read it. It is written to match how the site is built, so if the site changes, this page will change with it.
1. The short version
- There are no user accounts, no sign-in, no comments and no newsletter.
- There are no advertising networks, ad slots, tracking pixels or behavioural analytics scripts on the site.
- The contact page does not send anything to a server. It builds an email draft in your own mail app, and nothing is transmitted unless you choose to send it.
- The price tool and the notebook can store what you type in your own browser only, and only when you press a save button. You can clear it at any time.
- Like every website, loading a page makes ordinary network requests that reveal ordinary connection information to the servers involved. We do not claim that no data is collected anywhere along that path.
2. Information you provide
Contact page
The form on the contact page checks your name, email, topic and message inside your browser. When you press “Open email draft”, the page creates a mailto: link addressed to rabeeanaseer6@gmail.com, with your name, email address, topic and message encoded into the subject and body, and asks your device to open its default email application. The form data is not posted to the website’s server, and the site does not keep a copy. If you send the draft, it travels through your own email provider and the recipient’s provider under their terms, and the message will contain whatever you wrote and your sending address. The site never reports a message as sent, because it cannot know whether you sent it. If you prefer, you can copy the address or the draft text and paste it into any mail service. Please avoid putting sensitive personal information into a message.
Price tool
The price comparison tool converts prices you type from your own receipts or menus. Nothing you type is sent to our servers or to the exchange-rate provider. If you press “Save entries on this device”, the item name, prices, currencies, city, date, source and tax notes you entered are written to your browser’s localStorage under the key mf.prices.v1. “Clear saved entries” removes them. If your browser blocks storage (for example in some private modes), the page tells you that saving is unavailable instead of pretending to save.
Menu notebook and nutrition calculator
The notebook on the home page stores the notes you add in localStorage under mf.notes.v1. Notes are private to that browser on that device. They are not published, shared or backed up, and clearing your browser data or using the “Delete all notes” button removes them. The nutrition total calculator keeps its rows in memory only; they disappear when you reload or leave the page.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
This site does not set its own cookies. Its only use of browser storage is the optional localStorage described above, which stays on your device and is never read by the site’s servers. Third-party services listed below may set or read their own data under their own policies.
4. Third-party requests your browser makes
When a page loads, your browser contacts these outside services. Each of them necessarily receives standard connection information, such as your IP address, the time of the request, your browser and device type, and the address of the page requesting the resource.
- Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.com) supplies the typefaces used across the site. - Tailwind CSS CDN (
cdn.tailwindcss.com) supplies a styling script used by every page. - Frankfurter (
api.frankfurter.dev) is contacted only on the price page, to fetch European Central Bank reference exchange rates. The request asks for rates and does not include anything you typed.
We do not control these services and do not receive their logs. Please review their own privacy documentation for how they handle requests.
5. Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered as static files by a hosting provider. Hosting providers commonly keep operational logs that can include IP addresses, requested addresses, timestamps, referrer and browser information, for security and reliability. We do not operate our own log analysis and do not use these logs to profile visitors. We cannot control or promise how long the hosting provider keeps its logs, or whether it deletes them on request, so we make no such promise.
6. Photographs and bundled assets
The editorial photographs are licensed stock images from Pexels that are saved on this site and served from the same host as the pages. They are not loaded from an outside image service, so viewing them does not contact Pexels. Credits are on the About page. The people in these photographs have no connection to this guide and do not endorse it.
7. Links to other websites
Pages link to official menu pages, Rabeea Naseer’s portfolio and other sites. Once you follow a link, that site’s own policies apply, and we do not control what it collects. Links are for reference, not endorsement.
8. How information is used
Data you enter locally is used only to give you the feature you asked for: converting a price, adding up a meal or showing your notes. An email you choose to send is used to read and reply to your message. We do not sell personal information, and we do not combine it with data from other sources.
9. Your choices and rights
You can use the whole site without giving us any information. You can clear locally saved data with the on-page buttons or through your browser’s site-data settings. For emails you have sent us, you may ask us to delete our copy or to tell you whether we hold one, by writing to rabeeanaseer6@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, local law may give you additional rights over personal data; we will try to respond reasonably, but this page does not claim that the site meets every legal regime, and it is not legal advice.
10. Children
The site is a general-audience food guide and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has emailed us, write to the address above and we will delete the message.
11. Changes to this policy
If the site’s code or its outside services change in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes, such as adding analytics or advertising, would be reflected here before they are switched on.
